I took my 2 yr old for his first real haircut and I loved it! Kelly was very patient and comforting to him. He was scared and cried most of the time but she kept trying to distract him with several things like a movie, goldfish snack, a balloon, bubbles and a lollipop. I only wanted a trim and explained it to her and she did just that. Left it exactly like I wanted it. She even speaks Spanish which was a plus because my kids understand mostly Spanish. This will definitely be my go to place when I need to cut my sons hair again.

Rock hair scissors is a wonderful place. It was friendly, clean and fun for kids. Maria was really nice, patient but also fast with a crying squirmy toddler. We are definitely coming back to her.

Used to suffer through trips to Kidsnips. Tried this place and never looked back. We love Kim and have also had great cuts from Kelly,

I brought my 10-month-old son here for his first hair cut and was very pleased with the service and the cut. Kelly was great at making him feel comfortable, and she asked questions about how I wanted his hair to look. He kind of freaked out when the clippers came out, but the whole staff got involved with keeping him entertained with balloons, bubbles, and peek-a-boo. They were awesome. We did the 1st haircut package, which included his after-picture on cute certificate, a lock of hair, and brush/comb set (eh, it’s $ 10 more, but you only get a first haircut once.) We’ll definitely head back here for future haircuts.

They are always good to my two year old when we take him there. He has curly hair which can be hard to manage. Yet they are amazing.

Ashley was able to accommodate us with a same-day appointment for our toddler’s first haircut. He was scared to sit down initially, but Ashley swiftly moved in and entertained him the entire time while Kelly gave him a terrific haircut. It was a great experience for the entire family and we’re looking forward to the next visit.

I always pass by this place via my metra commute but never noticed it until my husband pointed it out. We brought our three boys here on Saturday to clean up their looks and see their eyes and ears again.
FYI … We have not found a good hair stylist ever since Tosha left Pigtails and Crewcuts («P&C») so we have been sticking to P&C due to convenience and that I need to use up my haircut pkg. I wish I never bought the haircut pkg because I think I have found a new hairstylist for the boys, Kelly!
The salon reminded me a lot of KidSnips with all the knick knacks and toys and products you can purchase. There are individual screens at the stations so kids can pick whatever dvd is available instead of watching the same thing as everyone else. They have a little «lego» table that a couple kids can play at while waiting and fortunately it is located by the window so kids can occupy themselves watching the trains and cars go by. They do offer some juice and goldfish snacks as well for the kids.
So we met Kelly and she was patient, professional, kind and wonderful with all of the kids. After all her years of experience as a stylist and being a manager, I can see a future between our boys hair and her. She understood what kind of styles I wanted for each of my three boys and gave me tips on how to deal their crazy colics (one has thick, stick — straight hair that just wants to sprout out like a fountain, one with two colics but fine straight hair and one with one colic and baby fine hair). She would err on cutting the hair longer rather than shorter just to make sure that you could see what was going on to confirm that the way she was cutting the hair was exactly the way you wanted it to be. This is a big plus, she actually listened and did what I wanted and gave me the results I wanted. Well, we could have done a tad better with the fading with one haircut but that was our first time and it wasn’t anything disastrous like other haircuts we have had.
Another great thing about the salon besides the free parking behind the salon is that they washed my boys hair after using the clippers and before the scissor styling began. I thought that was going to be extra but it was included in the $ 18 charge! Oh and Kelly noticed that one of my boys had eczema so she made sure to ask me if it was ok to use their shampoo on him … love this attn to detail! Lastly, I love that that they have early hours. We got the first appts for the day and we didn’t have to deal with the craziness that happens when the customers file in.
Overall I was very pleased with the service and am looking forward to having Kelly as our stylist again. Don’t forget to sign up for coupons and make use of the Belly card. Hooray for Rocks and Kelly!

We have been been here several times over the last two years for haircuts for my now 3 year old boy and 5 year old girl. They both love this place and get great cuts. The videos, snacks and special vehicle shaped chairs make it a special treat. The stylists are always friendly and quick too. Oh, and the parking lot in the back is great too. Completely worth my drive from Evanston to Edgebrook.

This was our first time going here for our sons first haircut and it was better than expected. The lady who cut my sons hair was patient and communicated everything she was doing. They played little Einsteins for him, offered juice and goldfish even though he didn’t want it. Haircut looks amazing! We will go again because they have a friendly staff.

Had our son’s first haircut and all subsequent haircuts here. They are great!
Kim was super pleasant and FAST. Our little man was entertained and engaged. No tears, just a studly little dude at the end of the appt.
Very, very happy!

This is the best place ever! My 15 month old loved it. He got his first haircut there. They entertained him with bubbles, a balloon, a movie, goldfish crackers and apple juice. I will never take him anywhere else to cut his hair! The ladies that work there are lovely. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!

Ms. Kelly is great with her skills and way she works with the kids to get best haircut. We have been taking my almost 6 y. o here for the last 4 years and she always looks forward to it!
Parking is easy (and free if there is space in the back).
Recommend for kids that have a playful spirit (will they sit in the firetruck, car, airplane?). Turns getting a haircut into a pleasant experience for everyone. The snacks (goldfish and juice) are a nice extra.
They always have good products to browse while your little one getting their haircut, including some that are organic and some that are an absolute must if your kid is in public school (eg Fairy Tales Rosemary Reper Conditioning Spray) which keeps lice away!
Would have given 5 stars if their online booking system a bit more automated. Currently you request date/time and they have to call you back before it’s confirmed. I get the human touch important so it’s a minor issue.

I took a chance bringing my cranky 2 year old in– and I’m glad I did!
The girls kept him entertained with snacks, movie, and great personalities.
Kim cut his hair and did a great job– frequently checking with me for input (cause mom knows how she wants baby’s hair!)
Will be back!

Kelly is so so so sweet and awesome!!! I absolutely love this place… my son just got his hair cut from here… he looks awesome and although there were tears… they handled is so wonderfully! They set up a dvd player so he could watch his fav show, gave him goldfish crackers and juice. When he started crying, one of the other stylists started distracting him with bubbles and balloons and toys… and then lollipops, cos everything would pacify him for a bit then he’d start crying again. The lollipop transformed him haha.
Anyway — these people know how to deal with children. I didn’t have to grab my son’s head and hold it in one place (did it everywhere else i got his hair cut) which used to make him cry like crazy. The décor is so happy and kid-friendly. The chairs for the toddlers are little cars and trucks… my son loved the airplane one.
They have parking in the back (turn on Lehigh Ave)…but street parking in front is also available.
Best place to get kids haircuts… definitely make a visit if your kid hates cuts… he/she will love it after this experience!

I just have to highly recommend this place for children haircuts.
They are absolutely the best. From top to bottom this place is a blast for kids. The put your child in one of there themed seats and give them balloons, monkeys, video, gold fish, and anything to play with in the store. The employees there are so helpful and great with kids. Kelly is out favorite. They don’t try to push any of their products or toys and everything in the there is all natural or organic. We always buy something when we come in just to support this great small business. Coming here’s truly a top-of-the-line experience.
