Nebraskans will soon start casting their ballots in the 2024 presidential election during early voting, which beings a few weeks before Election Day on Nov. 5.
If you haven't yet registered to vote — or if you want to vote at home but haven't requested a mail-in ballot — there is still time.
Here's what you need to know about the upcoming deadlines ahead of the general election in Nebraska.

* Oct. 7 - Early voting begins
* Oct. 18 - Voter registration deadline for online and by mail (postmarked)
* Oct. 25 - Voter registration deadline for in-person. Last day to request ballot by mail
* Nov. 4 - In-person early voting ends

* Nov. 5 - Election Day. Election offices must receive early ballots by 8 p.m. Postmarks do not matter. Allow seven days if mailing.
Register to vote
The deadline to register to vote online,by mail or at a state agency— including the DMV— is Oct. 18. You can register to vote online throughthe Nebraska's Secretary of State's online voter registration portalor by printing off and mailing ina voter registration form.Mail-in voter registration forms must be postmarked by Oct. 18.
You can register to vote in person at your county election office until 6 p.m. local time Oct. 25.
If you aren't sure whether you're registered to vote, you can check your registration status onthe state's VoterCheck website. If you need to update your address or party affiliation, you can do so through the state's online registration portal through Oct. 18.
Early voting
Since Nebraska is a "no-excuse" state, any registered voter can request an early voting ballot (formerly known as absentee voting) without providing a reason.
You can apply for an early voting ballot by contacting your county election office by mail or by fax. Or you can print anearly voting application, complete the form and then mail, fax or scan/take a picture of your application and email it to your county election office.
Your early voting application must be mailed to your county election office by Oct. 25.
Once you receive and fill out your ballot, you can mail it back to your county election office, return it to the office in-person or leave it in a ballot drop box.
Early voting ballotsmust arrive at your county election office or a designated drop box by the closing of the polls on Election Day. The polls close at 8 p.m. CT and 7 p.m. MT on Nov. 5.

* Eiseley Branch Library,1530 Superior St.
Nebraskans can also vote early in person at their county election office beginning Oct. 7. In-person early voting ends Nov. 4— the day before Election Day.
In Lancaster County, the Election Commission is open from8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with extended hours on selected days. The office is offering extended hours on the following days for early voting:
Friday, Oct. 25, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 26, from 8 a.m. to noon
Monday, Oct. 28, from 8 a.m.to 6 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 8 a.m.to6 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 2,from 8 a.m. to noon.
Monday, November 4, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Election day
Nebraska voters will berequired to present a photo IDbefore casting a ballot.
Voters must show their ID if they vote early in their county election office or if they cast their ballot at their local precinct on Election Day.
The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 5. Voters must vote at the location for their current address.
Voters can look up their polling location on theSecretary of State's websiteor they can call the election office at 402-441-7311.
Early vote ballots must be received by the Election Commissioner’s Office no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day and should be dropped off in the drop box on the north side of the Election Office, 601 N. 46th St. It is too late to mail the ballots and they cannot be returned to the voter's polling location on Election Day.
Campaign items for any candidate on the ballot, such as buttons, stickers, and T-shirts are not allowed in a polling place. It is illegal to campaign within 200 feet of a polling site. Campaign signs can be installed on private property within 200 feet of a polling site, provided that the property does not include where the polling place is located.
